I have a Wired Ethernet Adapter that's being detected by Windows 10 just fine, but when I try to install its driver (I uninstalled the Proset Software while trying to fix another problem) and/or the Proset Software, it won't complete installation because it says there is no Adapter detected. Can anyone help me get this fixed? The Adapter is an I217-V and it's built in my computer's motherboard, an ASUS Maximus VI Extreme. Thanks ahead of time!

Intel 10Gbit Card X540-T1 changes its Hardware ID?
Hi,
we have bought 3 of these expensive cards and for the second time now the following has happened:
these cards came as
PCI\VEN_8086\DEV_1528\&SUBSYS_00028086
and the installation of the the newest Win7 64bit drivers 20.3 went just fine and the network card worked
perfectly. The problem now is, once the PC shut down/cold booted the network disappeared and instead
an unknown ethernet controller is found by the device manager listed as follows:
PCI\VEN_8086\DEV_1512\&SUBSYS_00008086
It is then of course not possible anymore to install any driver for it, not even manually
inserting DEV_1512 into the .inf file works (device cannot be started code 10). Also
the Ctrl-S dialog to get into the card doesn't come up anymore after the Bios screen.
It looks as if the card is brain dead or several bits flipped or whatever.
This is now the second time under Win7 64bit with an HP 8100 Workstation. Under
Win81 64bit on a 2 Dell workstations the cards work very well even after several
complete shutdowns.
What can we do? Why and how does this happen? I have already RMA'd one card
and got a replacement but now the same is happening again and we can not believe
what we see. Hardware ID's are changing, how's that possible, what's going on??
What should we do with this, does anyone have any idea how this can be fixed???
Any help please? Thank you!
SRIOV-XL710-CentOS7.1-KVM
Hi Folks,
I am a newbie to this intel forum and have been working on building VNFs. I have the following questions which -
1. I have followed the Intel XL710 Config Guide for SRIOV which describes the process for RHEL 7, I don't see the interfaces popping up on the VM. Is it different if its CentOS 7?
2. I am using the following driver for XL710 - 1.3.39.1, I have also tested 1.1.38 which also fails. Is this something about the driver?
Following is what I use -
Intel XL710 - 1.1.39.1
HOST OS - CentOS 7
Virtualization - KVM
GUEST OS - CentOS 7 VM
Any help or direction would be appreciated !
Thanks

DPDK SR-IOV need your help
I have couple of doubts in SR-IOV & DPDK co-existence. I'm having clear understanding of DPDK in non virtual environment.
But when I get in to virtual environment(Host-Guest), I'm bit confused of DPDK's role in HOST & GUEST machines.
1. SR-IOV transferring the packets from physical NIC to guest VM(through VF).
Why can't we transfer the packets from Host-NIC to application space of VM? Rather than transferring the packet(from Host NIC) to the kernel space of VM's OS.
2. I refer some document from intel, If we spawn VMs we should run the DPDK in the application space of VMs.
Then the DPDK application fetching the packets from virtual function(VF) or vNIC through poll mode driver.
Please let me know what is functionality of DPDK between hypervisor and HOST's kernel if I enabled the SR-IOV mode in the physical NIC.
3. Can I run the TCP/IP stack in user space of the VM ? If my NFV application need TCP/IP stack?
4. I think DPDK will accelerate the VM-VM(Guest to Guest) communication through OpenvSwitch. But How DPDK will accelerate??
5. Whether DPDK will work on guest OS(VM) as same as host os(real environment) ? Please let me know the DPDK functionality changes in virtual and real environment.
I request you all, Pls help me to go ahead!!!

RE: Older Intel Pro 100VE Network Adaptor
I have spent a small fortune in time trying to find the specs on this desktop adaptor and searching through the volume of information on the Intel Support site I was unable to find anything of value to help me try and identify what kind of a card this is - PCI, PCI Express or What? Can someone please help shed some light on this mysterious card. I would like to put them to use old as they may be but I still have a lot of legacy equipment that still works
Thanks! And hope someone can help me out on this one.
Intel Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter / Windows 10
I upgraded Windows 7 too Windows 10, but I miss the ProSet features in the Win10 Device-Manager. I tried to install a lot of drivers without success. It tells me I have no Intel-Adapter installed....
Will there be a "full" driver support for my adapter in the near future?
Thank You
8086-1583 Nvm 4.53 upgrade fails
We successfully got 8086-1583 working with i40e 1.3.38 and 4.42 nvm.
Later we managed to upgrade from to i40e 1.3.39.1 and 4.53 nvm.
During nvm upgrade we've got following exception with the success message at the end.
Now we are not able to bring link up with old drivers and nvmneither new ones.
If nvm downgrade passes silently upgrade throws this exception every time.
Upgrade under Windows fails too with BSOD and 0x80 NMI_HARDWARE_FAILUR

i218-LM driver issue in MDT and WinPE deployment
Hi,
I'm trying to deploy laptop with Intel i218-LM network adapter and having issues while WinPE tries to connect to network device.
Error message while WinPE: A connection to the deployment share could not be made. The following networking device did not have a driver installed.
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15A2&SUBSYS_833810F7&REV_03 -> Intel i218-LM
We are using Microsoft MDT with WinPE 4.0. I have injected latest drivers for the device from both manufacturer site as well as from Intel's to MDT selection profile.
Drivers: Intel® Download Center
Also I have updated deployment share and regenerated boot images.
Issue seems to be that there is no this SUBSYS_833810F7 mentioned in neither of the .inf files (Intel version: e1d6432.inf). Only the following devices and appendixes are mentioned:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15A2
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15A2&SUBSYS_00008086
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15A2&SUBSYS_00011179
With OEM image Windows seems to handle the device without SUBSYS_833810F7, but only with the first part PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15A2. This one can be found in the driver files, but WinPE doesn't seem to accept it?
Where I can find the correct WinPE driver to use or is there something else I could try?
Kind regards
Pasi
Problems with newly installed Intel Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter
I recently purchased and installed an Intel Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter (PCI-E, 1x channel) in my desktop machine. The problem I'm having is with downloading files of any substantial size (say, above 2 MB). For example, when using IE11, the download message says "download was interrupted" or "file was interrupted" - and multiple retries never succeeds.
When I temporarily enable a wireless adapter (and disable the intel CT connection) on the desktop, the file downloads just fine. For other reasons, the wireless adapter is not a long term solution - which is why I purchased the wired CT desktop adapter.
Drivers are up-to-date: (Intel, 5/26/2015, 12.7.28.0) - In fact, I had to download the driver package from Intel using the wireless connection because of the problems mentioned above with using the CT adapter.
Also - when running the hardware diagnostics, the loopback test fails - all others pass.
Is this a hardware issue?
Thanks!
Windows 7 Professional x64 integrated Intel 82577LM network controller on Latitude e6510 - EEPROM failure because of Intel Link Speed hardware diagnostics
So, basically I've got same problem as the guy who posted topic Integrated Intel 82577 network controller - EEPROM failure.
But in my case this problem appeared slighlty different. While browsing Internet, connection was breaked, because of temporary connections problem with LAN (router had to be reset).
But first I thought it's the fault of NIC, so I decided to make NIC hardware diagnosicts using Intel Link Speed driver options.
Test failed and I've got info that EEPROM diagnostics failed.
Then NIC stopped working.
I've tried deleting and installing again the driver (both using drivers from dell support website and intel download center), also tried installing driver for 82577LC, reinstalling chipset drivers, deleting entries in windows registry.
Nothing worked.
Even booted Ubuntu liveUSB - linux also don't recognized this NIC.
Is it totally physically bricked or just firmware is really messed up?
How could I diagnose this by myself? Both on Windows and unix?
Has Intel got some hardware diagnostics tool, which could detect such problems?

intel X710 issue on CARP replication, freeBSD pfSense in vmware environment
Hi all,
I've got some really bad moments with the intel network card X710 10GBit SFP, so that's my issue:
I have some VMs (pfSense) in a vmware cluster composed by 2 hosts ESXi,
that VMs are a set of Master-Slaves(Backup) set with a CARP Sync that permit a sort of software-HA.
I had the first problem in configuration phase when i moved my (configured and ongoing) vSubnet (my LAN) from ethernet interface to SFP 10 GBit.
CARP packets were redunded 3-4 times.
Looking in the network card's datasheet i found it's feature for multicast packs called "VDMq" (that by default should be disabled), in fact it wasn't so I've done it manually, after a driver update.
The problem was gone... until the moment when I configured the second interface 10 GBit/s (of the same physical net-card).
VM's configuration is the same, but the problem of "over-redundancy" came out again, even with the settings that solved the problem the first time it occurred!
So now the hosts CARP intercomunication proceed smoothly, but Masters receive our own packets going in backup mode...
sorry for english nazi-grammar,
hope there'll be soon a solution,
Thanks
Unsupported SFP in VMware
We're upgrading our VM infrastructure to 10 G and have purchased dual port x520 fiber ethernet adapters. I couldn't get the adapters to work and determined that we have to use Intel SFP's. We've ordered them, but I'd like to get started building out my environment. Is there a workaround for this so that I can keep working until my Intell SFP's show up?
Thanks

Having studied in a remote primary and secondary school in kenya . My querry is with facebook internet delivery which is to be rolled in Kenya can this assist in promoting education in these remote areas and how is the plan ?
Have been keenly following new developments and how major companies such as Google (Google Loon) and Facebook (internet drone delivery) are targeting people in remote areas in trying to get them access to internet.
With Facebook internet drone delivery set to be rolled soon in Kenya i was wondering whether Intel with its initiative
Transforming Education for the Next Generation A Guidebook for Education Transformation
Has intel partnered with any of this companies Facebook and Google Loon in the countries where they have rolled these products and can it happen here in Kenya.

Intel LAN ethernet connection differences
What is the difference between Intel I-218V and Intel I210-AT?
I have seen on some motherboard manufacturer websites that the I-218V supports "Dual interconnect between the Integrated LAN controller and Physical Layer (PHY)"
Does the same apply to the I210-AT?
Thanks.
