Intel 82579LM Device not starting (Code 10) problem

Hello All,

I hope I am writing at the right place.

I am experiencing the next problem. I have several computer (windows 7) with the same ethernet adapter integrated in the mother board (82579LM). And randomly, when I start the system, the network adapter is not working. And I go to the device manager, the network adapter has the yellow sign, and it says that the device could not be started error (code 10). And the way to solve the problem is to turn off the system, unplug it from the wall for 1 min, plug it again, and then it workd fine. I have been researching everywhere and I know that it is probably a driver problem. But I would need to really make sure that the new driver is solving the problem. Because the issue is very intermitent, I can not tell if my updated system is working fine.

I could see that the ethernet adapter gets power all the time, as soon as the computer is plugged.

My guess is that for some reason the Ethernet adapter gets stack, corrupted, or I don't know, during the shutdown/starting and the only way to wake it up again is to remove the power from the adapter.

I would apreciate any ideas in order to be able to reproduce this problem, and then see if the new driver is working fine.

I tried to start the system 100 times and it happend once, and then I restarted it another 200 times (with the same driver) and everything was fine.

Also I tried to hybernate the computer to see if it was a problem with the sleep mode, as a read somewhere else, but no luck.

Maybe there is a software tool to be able to control all this extra option of the ethernet adapter? making it to sleep or go to save power mode manually?

Intel® Ethernet Connection I219-V driver for WHS 2011 / Windows Server 2008 R2

Hi,

 

I tried to download "Intel Ethernet Connection CD 20.7" to install the driver on my WHS 2011 server. The installation fails with something like "Intel ethernet adapter not found". Are there no drivers for this Windows Server? The ethernet adapter is a onboard solution of a motherboard with Z170 chipset.

Intel Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter Drivers

Hello INTEL, i am writing here hoping that INTEL could help us out especially for those who owned the Intel Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter. Today i have just bought this Network Interface Card hoping that it could replace my faulty RealTek onboard LAN as i know that Intel is reputable in the terms of Network reliability. To my horror, there is no drivers for Windows 10 at all! I have noticed that previous version of windows are still being supported such as Windows 8.1, Windows 8 and Windows 7 are still being constantly provided with drivers update. This is extremely frustrating as for I and other Windows 10 owner surely would not want to downgrade to Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 due to the fact that Windows 10 have features such as DirectX12 support for supporting GPU such as the GTX 970. By downgrading this would simply mean that i would have to revert back to Windows 7 with only DX11 support since Microsoft have no intention of pushing DX12 to Windows 7 or 8/8.1. So i am hoping that Intel could provide us (Windows 10 owners) with a compatible drivers for us to continue using this adapter without the need of downgrading.

I am hoping that the relevant department will be able to see this and understand how dreadful it will be for owners of this adapter to use the NIC without a stable and compatible drivers for Windows 10.

Currently using basic drivers and is experiencing massive reduction of speed especially when gaming and downloading of content.

Wired ethernet failed on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with Intel 82579LM / Intel 82574L

Fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS desktop on my workstation.

I have

  • Eth0 Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection
  • Eth1 Intel 82574L Gigabit Network Connection

 

Installed the latest (3.3.3) drivers Download Network Adapter Driver for PCI-E* Gigabit Network Connections under Linux* by unpacking, make, sudo make install, modprobe with reboot.

Wired internet doesn't seem to work.

Cable is showed as visual plugged but is displayed disconnected (keeps reconnecting)

Installing version 2.5.4 with same results

 

/etc/network/interfaces:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

NUV517RYH Ethernet not working

I have a NUV517RYH, running ESXi 5.5.

Has been working fine for 8 months.

Today, when I powered it on, I can no longer ping it from local switch.

I have done all the basic things e.g.

  - verified cable, connected laptop to port, so cable and port are good

  - turned on debugs on the switch to watch for ICMP packets

  - from the ESX console, ping the switch fails, no ICMP packets seen

BIOS is RYBDWI35.86A.0246.2015.0309.1355 as seen on screen upon accessing via F2.

 

Any help is appreciated.

patches to disable anti-spoofing in VF (igb & ixgbe)

Attached please find two patches for the igb and ixdbe drivers that allow a guest instance to set the MAC address.

 

To enable such features, you need to run this on the host:

                  ip link set dev <interface_name>  vf  < index>    spoofchk off

 

The igb patch is based on version 5.3.3.5.

The ixgbe patch is based on redhat el7 3.10.0.-327.4.5.el7 kernel.  (i.e. linux-3.10.0-327.4.5.el7.x86_64/drivers/net/ethernet/intel/ixgbe)

 

Let me know if that make sense?

sriov and dpdk on vm

Hi

 

I have a compute node of openstack juno running 2 vms.

Each vm have a nic which is a sriov vf.

In each vm i read packet with dpdk in user space from the sriov vf.

All the 2 vm receive traffic ok.

If in one of the vm i kill the dpdk processes that is listening to the sriov vf , the other vm stop receiving traffic.

Why is one vm/vf influenced by the other?

 

If i look in the host side with ethtool -S, i can see that all packet are Rx dropped at rx_missed_errors.

Missing Network Drivers

I have a PC with network driver issue.

the  manufacture is "Mercer Pro-Efficient Extreme"

Can you provide me with the drivers for it as the once I got from internet are nor working.

Raid Controller RS3UC080 - LSI 3008 - Missing disk

We have a Supermicro chassis with a LSI 3008 HBA card. Installed FreeNas 9.3-RELEASE, but realized there were only 35 disks visible to the OS. The missing disk is in bay 24 (starting at 0 - 1st disk on rear backplane).

 

Both in the card bios and booting a live gnu/linux shows all 36 disks and said disk is functional.

 

Some research on the web suggest using the lsiutil to fix the problem, but we can't find the FreeNas version of the lsiutil.

Intel x710-da4 JumboFrames issue

Hi guys,

 

I am having issue with jumbo frames on this card, for the life of me, it just won't do it.

Driver updated to the newest, and firmware updated to the newest one as well.


I have a brocade switch in between, and I had ticket open with Brocade to make sure is not the switch, and made sure jumbo frame is enabled.


So I wanted to test without the switch, so I formed a direct connection between the two servers, both X710-da4, and I am still not able to do jumbo frames.

I thought it might be the SFP or the fiber, so I changed them out, and still the same result.

 

Both are running on Windows 2012 R2, both have jumbo framed enabled via NIC properties.

 

Is there something else I am missing? it's driving me nuts.  thanks!

Hi guys,

 

just wondering if anyone has an Idea regarding that.

 

i tried to update my I350 and 82576 Firmware Version.

 

i downloaded latest BOOTIMG.FLB and Bootutil for Dos.

 

once i booting and placing "BootUtil -IMAGEVERSION" it's not recognizing the Firmware versions.

 

8086:1521 = I350

8086:1526 = 82576 

 

i tried also the Bootutil from Dell.

 

if i try to make the Flashenable it giving me an unsupported Error.

Disabling VLAN stripping on 82599 card when using SR-IOV

I have 2 VMs and each has a VF assigned from the same card.

The VMs have installed some apps that communicate with tagged(8021Q) traffic between them. Eg: Client App - VM - PCI - VM - Server App

The issue is that although tagged traffic exists one VM, it will arrive at the other stripped of the tag.

 

Is there a way to disable this behaviour? Even by recompiling the driver?

Ethernet adapter 82574IT stopped or resetting in WEC7

Hi

 

We are using a Nexcom NISE2300 (Intel atom D2550) computer which has 4x Intel® 82574IT GbE LAN ports . It is running

Windows Embedded Compact 7 (WEC7) with the drivers from the “Intel® Ethernet Drivers for Microsoft* Embedded Operating Systems version 12". The WEC7 image is based on the "Small footprint device" template and the CEPC bsp, it also has smp enabled.

 

When using the network we sometimes get the following message printed to the debug port

"PID:00400004 TID:00EB0016 WINCE 6.0 E1Q::PhyUpdateAdaptiveIFS: Adaptive IFS exiting--adapter is stopped or resetting"

and a network adapter stops to respond (even to ping), sometimes it recovers (after some seconds) and sometimes a power cycle is needed.

 

Does anyone have an idea of why the adapters are stopping /resetting and why this message gets printed?

Need to downgrade "nvm" on Intel x710-DA2 10G ethernet card

As part of a problem investigation, I update the "nvm" / firmware on a couple of Intel X710-DA2 10G ethernet cards using the NVM Update package (Download NVM Update Utility for Intel® Ethernet Converged Network Adapter XL710 & X710 Series) .  The new firmware did not solve the problem and now I want to go back to the old firmware.

 

As part of the upgrade sequence, I had the software make a backup copy of the firmware. So I have a copy of the firmware, but I see no way to actually put that firmware back into the board.  The NvmUpdateTool does not provide a downgrade / restore old firmware option.   The software made directory with the old firmware (4MBytes labeled <macAddr>.bin and some other data - labeled <macAddr>.flb).

 

Now what?

Queue issue about XL710

I met some issues with XL710 NIC on FreeBSD10.1.

The NIC is a dual-port 40G card with the latest NVM image. CPU is 2690 V2 with hyperthreading to 40 logical cores.

Part number as XL710-QDA2 932587.

Firmware info:  f5.0 a1.5 n05.02 e80002285

Driver info: 1.4.8.

 

Issue1:

Within 20 queues only 16 of them are receiving packets (que0 - que15),

Que16-que19 are generating interrupt but no packet available, status/error register value are all 0.

Issue2:

The NIC may hang under heavy stress, like putting 60Gbps traffic into it.

It may stop generating interrupt in such case.
